Dress for Success

"Suit up and Show up!"

We've heard those words for many years but is there any truth to looking your best in the workplace?   I believe there is.  It seems that with each passing year, we become (or find ways to become) more and more comfortable at work, leaving polish and charm shoved in our closets back at home.  Flip-flops and jeans are no stranger to today's workplace, and untimely hair and makeup is quite common in many office environments.  But what is this saying about your team, your brand, or your day to day efforts?

First and foremost, on or off the clock, you are a walking representation of your brand.  Whether you own the company or whether you are employed by the company, you represent the brand.  I have found that people who look the part, dress the part, and act the part have a more efficient and effective work atmosphere.  Whether in the office or traveling for the company, it's important to look your best.

When you look great - you feel great.   When you feel great, people notice.    They give you pats on the back.   They (hopefully) recognize your efforts.    This contributes to a more positive and uplifting atmosphere and greater team spirit.   In turn, this generates greater effectiveness in the workplace.  I vote for buttoning up, looking the part, and putting on your best "YOU" before heading in to the office.
