Hair Frizz - A Hollywood no-no!

"Dear Billy.   My friend's daughter battles frizz each and every day!  She's tried everything under the sun and can't seem to tame the frizz.  She has fine hair, and lots of frizz.  What should she do?  Sincerely, Untamed."

Dear Untamed.
Fine hair with frizz is definitely no fun.   Fine hair is weightless - which means it will seem impossible to tame or smooth down.  Here are a few suggestions.

1.  Be sure you're working with a shampoo and conditioner appropriate for your hair type.   Have this discussion with your salon professional.   Smoothing shampoos, conditioners and styling products can work wonders but be sure you don't weigh the hair down at the same time.

2.  Do not use gels, silicones or mousse on this hair type.   You're not looking for volume.  You're looking for control.

3.  Use styling CREAMS.    After you shampoo and condition, use a styling or smoothing cream, staying away from the scalp area.   These are more occlusive, allow more control and give a smooth finish.

4.  Work with metal or ceramic round brushes (see my write-up about the Olivia Garden round brushes for best control and style) and when blowing hair dry, work with medium speed, high heat.   This way you stay in control of the hair.

Hope these quick tips help.
