Wash Your Hands

Is your make-up artist washing her hands between services?

I was listening to the radio this morning about a report on ecoli and what was one of the first things they mentioned? The make-up counter at your local department store.

Bays like Clinique, Mac, Estee Lauder, and Chanel all feature help-yourself make-up areas, and artists who can give you this season's hottest look. But is the make-up sanitary? Not usually - thanks to the DIY (do it yourself) maven who puts the tube of lipstick right on her lips and walks away.

Ladies, please ask for assistance at the make-up bays and for heavens' sake - please don't touch make-up containers to your skin for everyone else's sanitation and hygiene - and that of your own.

The BEST way to apply make-up at the bays is

1 - Ask for help
2 - Be sure your make-up artist has washed her (or his) hands
3 - Use disposable applicators (cotton, q-tips) to apply make-up for hygiene purposes
4 - If using professional applicators, be sure they have been cleansed
5 - Ask your make-up artist to scrape away a layer of lipstick before applying
